In “Blue,” Pacquing exhibits his recent works in oil at the West Gallery, Power Plant from September 14 to 28. This time, he painted his oils on paper. By doing so, the artist finds the process of art making a cathartic revelation that leads to an indefinable perfection he has always tried to achieve. Pacquing carefully folds a symmetrical piece of paper into several equal parts, producing thin, straight, distinct and perfectly executed lines—impressions that are absolute. But on the same piece of paper, the perfection is challenged. For when he paints on it, the scribbling, smudges and drippings gave rise to crudeness, asymmetry of pattern and distortion of forms that spontaneously assault perfection.
