Jon Jaylo explores an utterly simple, yet commonly overlooked concept in Clarity. To Jaylo, the term “gives someone a certain point of focus, or perhaps a stable direction. The absence of it, on the other hand, is chaos.” He adds, “It is knowing where and when to stand, and acting in accordance to one’s given position…Clarity is knowing what to fight for, no matter what the odds, or just knowing what to shrug off… It’s determining what’s worth fighting [for] and what’s not.” Jaylo sees man’s imperfections and susceptibilities to outside sources that affect his thinking, explaining why there are many undecided entities and lost souls. Yet he believes that a very small fraction of the general human populace retain their state of clearness in terms of thinking, having an unclouded path of where to go, regardless of temptations and obstacles being hurled along the way. “They are the enlightened ones, those treading the footpath of clarity and certainty, believes Jaylo. He shows these traits in the most simple, yet human ways, playfully mixed with satire, poetry, and surreal images from a dream. Jaylo’s paintings project a mirror of our own souls, an open box of emotions, dreams, and even fears. “Change is an internal process, so it should always start from within.”
