Andres Barrioquinto was inspired by a verse from the Bible on “idle minds and the destructive post-mortem effects of man’s evil deeds.” In Idle Minds, featuring his latest works in oil on canvas, he concentrates on the intricacy of details in a strong, realistic rendition. Barrioquinto, directly or indirectly, often uses personal experiences in his works. “I had recently come in contact with the full potentiality of evil that can exist in a man’s corruptive being,” adds Barrioquinto, on betrayal. “It mirrors what could happen to each of us in different ways.” One of the works is “Alam ng Dios,” visually interpreting 1 Timothy 5:13, on people becoming lazy and choosing to gossip.
