If I Had a Hi-Fi

About the Exhibition

” If I Had a Hi-Fi,” Anthony Palomo’s recent watercolor paintings opens at the West Gallery Glorietta IV, level 3, on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 6 pm.

The exhibit was seeded on the idea of palindromes. Playfully trivial, they may have been a staple of pastime in other cultures worldwide long before the electronic and texting age. Nasa Bayabasan, a popular Filipino palindrome to cite can be read forward or backward as the same.

The exhibit delves on his avid personal interests in music threading a whimsical tightrope between representational and non-figurative strips in search of personal relevance within triviality. The artist seemed to have always been finding something musical in what he paints. And a trivia for all it’s worth, the current year 2002, a palindromic year is the last for this century.

Palomo is a Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from the University of the Philippines and has been a grand prize winner in national art competitions such as the 24th Shell and 11th Metrobank. He has participated in important local and international major group exhibits. He was an erstwhile member of Salingpusa, a popular Antipolo based artists’ group.
