Dennis Gonzales chose the title, Nothing New Under the Sun, because he feels that no one can hide anything from it. “The sun has witnessed everything; maybe we are taken by surprise by what seems to be a new phenomenon to us.” Gonzales recalls how his mother used to say to him that someone upstairs knows if he is telling a lie. He gets his ideas from everywhere, from magazines and photographs to using his imagination in conveying what he wants: “A big part of being an artist is making your mind a universal wasteland, absorbing all things good and bad to produce great ideas.” One of the works done in oil is “Inside,” which reveals his curiosity on how people manage to hide their real identities.
