Procrastinator

About the Exhibition

Caesar Joseph Tanedo and James Tyago Almario team up in Procrastinator, featuring works in oil that focus on man’s tendency to put things off. In “Devour,” for example, Tanedo explores gluttony, widely known as one of the seven deadly sins. “This is about people who worship their stomachs,” describes Tanedo, who often draws inspiration from the Bible. The theme may be on idleness or procrastination, but Tanedo is determined to keep on going, and improve on his painting techniques while tackling diverse subjects in future exhibits. James Tyago Almario says his and Tanedo’s subjects remain the people “whose works are against the good teachings of the Bible.” Almario’s oil on canvas pieces were inspired by his fellow artists in the show, calling them versions of the works he liked best, while dwelling on the eventualities of procrastination. In “Schism,” he shows the divide that results in disunity or misunderstanding. Almario, while trying to reflect his personality and beliefs through his work, says that he is still new to the craft, and has so much yet to learn.
