Opening on September 12 at West Gallery is the Blank Show which gathers artists Ronald Achacoso, Poklong Anading, Felix Bacolor, Ringo Bunoan, Annie Cabigting, Bea Camacho, Lena Cobangbang, Louie Cordero, Al Cruz, Pardo De Leon, Bembol dela Cruz, Ranelle Dial, Nona Garcia, Nilo Ilarde, Italo Z. Tajo, Pablo Martinez, Jet Melencio, Jonathan Olazo, Jayson Oliveria, Mawen Ong, Gary Ross Pastrana, Juni Salvador, Gerardo Tan, Wire Tuazon, Cris Villanueva, Alvin Villaruel and MM Yu whose works operate at times as “tabula rasas” or appear so visibly minimal they verge on the invisible literally and metaphorically. The paintings, installations, photographs, and video work in the show contemplate the quite inimitable concept of blankness, verify putting forth concepts of absolute presence and absence intermittently or both at the same time, confronting “horror vacui” as in the maximalist paintings of Louie Cordero, or imagining unseen processes as in Bea Camacho’s performative work. The Blank show was curated by Roberto Chabet.
The Show will be on view until September 30, 2006.
