About the Exhibition

Multidisciplinary artist Antonio Leaño features his recent body of works in two consecutive one-man exhibitions this September at the Finale Art Gallery and West Gallery.

Working in the possibilities of elastomeric cement as medium, Leaño achieves a tactile and visual dialogue with Variants at the West Gallery Glorietta 4, Makati City. The show runs from September 26 to October 8, 2002. In both exhibitions the artist compares the creation and appearance of an artwork in conjunction with the creative nature of the universe. The artwork marks segments in the fabric of space-time, indicating a transcendent existence independent of its creator and yet it is constantly reaffirmed as a result of it being embedded in public consciousness.

Antonio Leaño studied Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He is a recipient of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Thirteen Artists Award in 1994. He has represented the country in various art for and exhibitions here and abroad. Leaño is a resident artist of Pinto Art Gallery in Antipolo City, for which he made architectural design. His art activity ranges from painting to installation and site-specific sculpture, environment and architectural design. He has had several one-man shows since 1993.
